Summary: Perfect Condition
Comment: I ordered both Wheater/Hoppe CD's that were produced as a complimentry pair. They both arrived simultaneously, in brand new condition. They arrived within 2-3 days of placing the order!
Thanx!

Summary: Highly recommended
Comment: The music on this CD is extraordinarily beautiful. The pieces are meditative and moving. We used this CD many years ago during labor when we had our first child. We lost it in a move and missed it so much we recently repurchased it. It is as lovely as we remembered.

Summary: EXCELLENT
Comment: Excellent CD. I use it to relax my clients and all have commented how much they enjoy the ambient music as well. Very soothing! This artist is the best I've ever listened to.

Summary: Soothing, wonderful, beautiful
Comment: I reviewed the companion CD, "The Yearning, Romances for Alto Flute," so I thought I'd do this one too. They are similar and I have and enjoy both.
Like I said for the other one, only a few times in my life have I heard music that made me stop what I was doing and pay attention, but this is one of them. These two CD's, these two artists. The music is beautiful, wonderfully mellow, soulful, and passionate, with a deep feeling to it, and very relaxing. I've been listening often in the evenings for just that effect.
This is a very intimate recording, giving you the feeling of being there. You can occasionally hear the breathing of the flutist, and far from detracting from the recording, it enhances it.
All 11 songs on the CD are excellent. A very consistent performance. I wish there were a Vol. 3!

Summary: Low and slow
Comment: A bit on the alto flute before I review the music here: the alto flute is a rather rare instrument--it's bent right before the joint of the head (mouthpiece) and the body of the flute--think how the pipe underneath your sink looks with that elbow bend and you can picture it. And it has a breathy sound plus a somewhat softer and less shrill upper register. The breathiness is due to the volume of air the player needs to push through the instrument. The bend is to accommodate the fact that flute players arms don't grow longer, but a lower note flute must be MUCH longer than the standard soprano. The soft music on "Alto Flute Romances" is composed with a slow tempo to take advantage of the wind-in-a-cave sound of the flute. Perfect for slowing down, relaxing, calming oneself, or playing as a lullaby. Some of the pieces sound a bit alike, but they are all in a similar tempo which adds to the relaxation effect. The "Lavender Shadows" is my favorite on the entire CD. Very nice.
