"A kaleidoscope of images and tantalizing info-bits that flash out of the pages." -- Herald Tribune
Home to writers such as Kafka, artists such as Slavicek and Kokoschka, and composers such as Dvorak, the city of Prague pulsates with the beat of culture and history even as its landscape delights the eye. One of Europe's most beautiful and well-preserved cities, Prague offers travelers some of Europe's finest examples of baroque palaces, Gothic cathedrals, and Cubist facades, as well assome of its most magnificent museums, theaters, and concert halls.
Stroll past the statues on the Charles Bridge which leads to old Town Square where you can visit the Church of St. Nicholas, with its beautifully sculpted interior, the former Town Hall and its intricate Clock Tower, and the enormous complex of the Clementium which took over a century to complete. Visit the storied Prague Castle, wander through the peaceful Hradcany district, or linger in Wenceslas Squares, a symbol of Czech national pride and resistance. Visit the Museum of Musical Instruments, which houses more than 3,000 musical devices. Whether you visit for a week or a weekend, the delights of Prague will remain fondly etched in your memories for a lifetime.

Customer Rating: Summary: Very Detailed picture guide Comment: This guide has more detail than any travel book I've ever read. Details on art, literature and architecture. Pictures and diagrams are interesting and colorful. This book may not be too practical though. The accommodation and restaurant sections are difficult to read as they don't have the color all the other sections have. Still it's a great guide and you could get a feel for Prague without even going there.
Customer Rating: Summary: This is an amazing guidebook! Comment: I bought this book before a trip to the Czech Republic. As I read it, I discovered that I couldn't have made a better choice in travel guides. This book is crammed with pictures and facts. It covers the city in every detail, from its history, to its artists, and even its architecture. It is laid out very well in an easy-to-read fashion with myriads of colorful pictures exploding from every page. The book is a fascinating read even if one doesn't plan on visiting Prague.
