Editorial Reviews:

This book focuses on the crucial political events of the last century, addressing much more than the struggle between communism and capitalism. The author gives major attention to the high level of violence in Europe, and weaves together the overarching themes of the struggle for hegemony, the establishment of common economic and political institutions, the affirmation of social democracy, and the stunning advance of science..

Summary: Good if you know the dictionary by heart
Comment: Good: He goes into quite a bit of depth if you want to know every little detail.

Bad: Too much depth for my history class. The wording he uses he just seems like he wants to sound sooo smart. Never uses a word like enlarge its always some monstrosity no one ever uses like aggrandizement. This was the biggest issue I had with the book. Second major issue was the organization. Sometimes it's pretty organized. It's mostly the chapter is a certain time period then he goes into the different countries but it rarely follows a chronological path. For me thats the easiest way to learn history so I ended up having to note all the important stuff. Make a timeline from it, then order the notes from early -> latest.

Overall: I think there's way better history books and I wish my professor would have choose one of them for the course. Hard to follow, so definitely not for independent studies unless you want to spend 3 hours a chapter just to get it in the right order for you to remember.

I wouldn't ever by another book by this author unless I was looking for a good thesauruses.

Note to author: In the intro you say your wife kept you from being lonely during this process. Maybe if you didn't write words that were a mile long and check a thesauruses every other word it might go a bit quicker for your next publication.
